Master Class Workshop, August 2018
What – Viewpoints and Suzuki
The Suzuki Method is a rigorous physical and vocal discipline which strives to restore the wholeness of the body as a tool of theatrical expression. Attention is on the lower body and vocabulary of footwork, sharpening the actor’s breath control, concentration and commitment to each moment.
The Viewpoints is a technique of improvisation that breaks down the two dominant issues performers deal with – time and space. Using the Viewpoints allows a group of actors to function together spontaneously and intuitively and to generate bold, theatrical work. It develops flexibility, strength and articulation in movement while quickly making ensemble interaction possible.
Composition. n. arrangement into specific relation and especially into artistic form.
So you’ve been training in the Suzuki Method and Viewpoints but aren’t really sure where it all leads? Here is a great opportunity to take the next step. During the afternoon, participants will build on the morning’s pursuits to collaboratively generate new works. Take the physical focus and mental flexibility you’ve been training and add a whole new layer of artistic acumen.
